Eagle Mountain Data Center Team Community Impact
Reused Clothing, STEM Fairs, Habitat Homes, Sweet Valentines + C.O.P.S Gala
The team at Eagle Mountain Data Center in Utah hit the ground running in 2023. January began with a 鈥楥lean Out Your Closet鈥 clothing drive.听 Donations of clothes for babies, children, teens, and adults were plentiful. Filling six trucks, donations were delivered to听听and听. 听Both facilities house, feed, and clothe the homeless.
Participating as judges in the fifth and sixth grade STEM Fair at听, we got to see how much innovation and passion the kids put towards their projects.听 What an honor for us to be involved in such a valuable and educational event!
Moving into February, two shifts of volunteers did framing for听. Volunteers built and put up ALL the exterior walls, and one interior wall.听 The home is for a family of five with a daughter that has cerebral听palsy and was unable to maneuver in their previous home. For Valentine鈥檚 Day, the project team wrote postcards for 300 terminally ill children at听. The event ended with more than 370 Valentine鈥檚 Day cards created for delivery to the children.
Completing the month of February, the team attended the annual听听Black and Blue Gala. Their mission is rebuilding the shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths, through partnerships with law enforcement and the community. It was a very humbling event as the attendees listened to how Eagle Mountain police officer, Cory Wride, lost his life in the line of duty. It was a lovely way to show support and honor our people in blue. Each year, between 140 and 160 officers are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss.听Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.听provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty as determined by Federal criteria. Furthermore,听C.O.P.S.听provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors. There is no membership fee to join, the price paid is already too high.
