The Deerfield Public Library's Library Improvement Program involved a major reorganization and remodeling, including two new additions to the existing facility totaling more than 10,000 square feet. The expanded facility has significantly more meeting space as well as quiet zones and study rooms, a computer lab, automated checkout and return station, and a fireplace.
To improve energy efficiency, 必威体育官方APP下载 replaced the library鈥檚 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems with a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system. Faced with severe above-ceiling space constraints, 必威体育官方APP下载 relied on an advanced technology called building information modeling (BIM) to build detailed 3D models used by all the MEP contractors to plan, install, and integrate their systems. In addition, 必威体育官方APP下载 installed LED lighting controlled by sensors.
In response to the changing needs of the town鈥檚 residents, the library has maximized its space to offer not only the traditional refuge for reading, studying, and quiet areas, but it provides technology and social spaces for activity and community gatherings.
